Hyperhidrosis/Excessive sweating

Primary focal hyperhidrosis meaning that if the sweaty condition is not caused by the side effects of other medication, then muscle relaxant might be the answer for you. Unfortunately, we currently do not treat excessive sweating on the hands and feet as these areas can be extremely sensitive and a mild sedation under specialist supervision might be needed while patients receive this treatment. Excessive sweating in the forehead and underarm are the most common areas we treat at our clinic. The underarm will need a much higher dosage (50-200 units) of muscle relaxant for both sides. Patients usually report having an improvement in their quality of life as they feel more confident in social situations.

It is important to point out that we are all individuals and although there are some guidelines on dosage(amount of medication needed), we find that there could be a significant difference from patient to patient. Dosage, frequency and longevity of treatment can vary. A normal to higher dosage infrequently (every 3-4 months) can suit many people while others experience a better result from having a lower dosage more frequently.
